The symbiotic relationship in which workers of a social parasitic ant species raid the nests of another species, capture brood (usually pupae) and return with them to rear them as enslaved nestmates. This slave-raiding relationship is termed facultative when it is optional (i.e. the dulotic species can survive without slave-raiding), or obligatory when the dulotic species is dependent upon this behavior.
